Kogi Security Trust Fund seeks media support to fight crime

The management of Kogi State Security Trust Fund, has called for stronger collaboration between security organisations and the media for a crime-free society.

Executive Chairman, Kogi State Security Trust Fund, Honourable Abdulraheem Ozovehe- Ohiare made the call while playing host to officials of the state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, during a courtesy visit to his office.

Hon Ozovehe- Ohiare who emphasised that the task of over coming challenges of insecurity requires collective efforts of all stakeholders, assured residents that the agency will not compromise the security of lives and property of the people of the state.

The Executive Chairman said much have been achieved since assumption of office, emphasizing that measures have been taken to address insecurity through the commitment of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

According to him, the office has been able to overhaul about sixty vehicles for security outfits and even para military agencies aimed at achieving set objectives.

Hon Ozovehe- Ohiare called on criminals in the state to relocate as Kogi State will not be conducive for criminal practices.

‘We appeal to you to educate the public on the need to complement our efforts as some don’t even help matters. We have so far overhauled about sixty vehicles, both for the police, Civil Defence, Immigration and the Vigilante, so, we have done our best with the little resources at our disposal. Let’s also check the activities of Okada riders, Keke and driver unions, some are not genuinely Members and their leaders need to know the true ones among them, security is every body’s business “, he avered.

He commended the state Council of the NUJ for identifying the office as key stakeholder, urging the media to sustain its spirit and assured that steps will be taken to assist the Council in its pressing challenges.

Earlier, Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Ademu Seidu said the visit was to familiarize with the trust fund in order to synergize for optimum performance.

Alhaji Ademu commended the Executive Chairman for the feat achieved so far, describing the success story as heart warming.

The NUJ Chairman assured that the media will continue to be a dependable ally in the quest to attaining a crime free society and thanked the Executive Chairman for the warm reception.

In his remark, the Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Media, Mr Ismail said though the meeting was a coincidence, there was need to commend the Executive Chairman for his doggedness and sincerity of purpose.

Mr Ismail explained that the present administration was committed to making the state the safest in the Country through effective security architecture and praised the NUJ in Kogi State for its positive role at ensuring peace and tranquility.
