New FCT Council Exco appreciates members, vows to deliver on mandate

The newly elected executive of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ ) FCT Council, has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to all the journalists in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for their unwavering support and trust during the just concluded council election.

The exco while dedicating their victories to the members, described the massive turn out during the recent election as an indication that journalists are ready to take back their union and be liberated from the shackles and claws of those people who have been holding the union hostage.

The Council leadership in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary, Comrade Grace Ike and Comrade Jide Oyekunle on in Abuja, said, the union noted that the victory was a collective achievement that reflects the dedication, determination and commitment of all members to chart a new course and reposition the council for the betterment of the members.

The statement added that the active participation of over 550 journalists from various media organizations and Chapels in the electoral process has been instrumental to the success story and that power belongs to the people.

The new leadership therefore vowed to deliver on its mandate and election promises for the betterment of the members.

According to the statement, “On behalf of the newly elected executive of the NUJ FCT Council, we want to express our appreciation to you all for the show of love and support for coming out en masse to make history in the life of our union despite your busy schedules. We are not taking this gesture for granted but with gratitude.

“Your belief in our vision and your active participation in the electoral process have been instrumental in making this possible.

“It is with immense humility that we accept the positions and promise to turn around the name, image and reputation of the NUJ FCT Council and bring it to the path of honour.

“As we assumes office, we promise to foster a culture of professionalism within the union and raise the bar of excellence to an enviable height.

“As we move forward, we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every member’s voice is heard and valued. Together, we will work towards achieving our goals and making a positive impact within our union.

“Thank you once again for your support. We look forward to working closely with all of you in the coming years to realize our shared vision “ The statement added.
