Kogi lawmaker supports over 800 parents to pay school fees

Over 800 parents have benefitted from education support programme organised by the lawmaker representing Okene II state constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Honourable Yusuf Eneve.

Presenting a cash of thirty thousand naira (N30,000) to each of the beneficiaries in Okene Local Government Area of the state, the lawmaker , said the education support programme was part of his effort to compliment the efforts of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in his one year in office.

Hon. Eneve further explained that the over 800 beneficiaries were carefully selected across the four wards in the state constituency namely; Avuga-Ozuja, Obehira Eba, Obehira Uvete and Upogoro- Odenku, noting that the gesture which has gulped over 24 million naira was to ease the burden of school fees on parents.

According to him, the choice of education for the empowernment was borne out Governor Ododo’s commitment toward the provision of qualitative education for Kogi children.

“Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has prioritised education through infrastructural development and payment of WAEC, JAMB and other external examinations for the students in public schools in the state. I have seen his effort that is why I decided to support him as he cerebrates his one year in office” he stated

While calling on the people of his constituency to redouble their effort in supporting Governor Ododo’s administration, the lawmaker appealed to those who are not part of the empowernment programme to exercise patience as they will definitely be capture in the next phase.

In his remark, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Domestic Affairs, Hon. Kashim Ahmed Ododo commended the lawmaker for prioritising the welfare of his constituents.

He charged political leaders at the grassroots to shun greed and allow the dividend of democracy to touch the electorate, saying such attitude will create the desire peace and unity at the local level.

Also in his remark, Hon. Muazu Animuku the Zonal Chairman of APC, Central Senatorial praised the lawmaker for giving back to his constituents, saying the effort will go a long way to assist parents who are the beneficiaries.

He stated that the selection of the beneficiaries was devoid of politics , saying the essence was to foster unity among the people of the state constituency irrespective of political affiliation.

One of the beneficiaries Aisha Isah a mother of two, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for the gesture.
