The Kogi State Government has reiterated its dedication to ensuring the security and wellbeing of its citizens, pledging to enhance efforts in protecting lives and property statewide.
In a press release issued on Saturday, Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, conveyed the Government’s assessment of recent security incidents as desperate attempts by criminal elements to undermine the existing peace within Kogi State.
The statement emphasised that these threats will not diminish Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration determination to uphold law and order, further noting that a series of strategic security measures have been implemented, with certain details being withheld for operational efficacy.
Fanwo stated that the administration is actively bolstering local vigilante groups and increasing cooperation with formal security forces. He added that the Government has enhanced its security infrastructure with better logistics and surveillance for quicker response and prevention. These actions, he said, reflect a consistent “security-first” approach under Governor Ododo’s leadership.
Assuring residents of their safety, he highlighted that the administration is actively employing both human intelligence and modern technology to track and neutralize security threats.
“Building on the strong security framework established by the previous administration, we urge residents to remain vigilant and cooperate. Rest assured, Kogi State will not fall prey to criminal elements in any form.”
The Commissioner urged media practitioners to report security issues responsibly, stating the need to avoid sensationalism that could empower criminals or incite public panic. He stated that national interest and professional ethics should guide security reporting, particularly during coordinated efforts to neutralize threats.
“The Ododo administration will never fold its arms in the face of any form of insecurity,” Fanwo said. “Our silence on some operational strategies should not be mistaken for inaction. We are steps ahead of those who want to breach our peace, and we will continue to ensure that Kogi remains one of the safest states in the country,” he said.
He concluded by firmly stating the government’s commitment to ensuring a secure environment for all residents and investors in Kogi State, warning that those who seek to disrupt order will find no haven there.
