The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is set to hold a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting to mark the 100-day countdown to the 2027 general election.
The event, which will take place tomorrow Tuesday, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, BAT-ICC, in Abuja, will provide comprehensive updates on preparations for the polls, including status of the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics deployment and critical measures to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
The conference will be addressed by the INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, alongside other key stakeholders in the electoral ecosystem.
According to the Commission statement issued and signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of the Commission, Adedayo Oketola, said, the meeting underscores its commitment to absolute transparency, proactive public communication and collaborative engagement with all actors.
It added that, this stakeholders’ meeting will bring together a broad spectrum of participants including leadership of political parties, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, ICCES, members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations and domestic and international observer groups.
Also expected at the event are disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives, reflecting the Commission’s drive for an inclusive and participatory electoral process.
The Commission disclosed that the event is strictly by invitation, with invited guests expected to be seated by 10:00 a.m., while accredited media representatives and guests must present invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.
INEC added that the proceedings will be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed on its official social media platforms to ensure wide public access, noting that the briefing will offer Nigerians and the international community a clear picture of its readiness as the nation counts down to the 2027 general election.
