From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Muhammad Kamalud-deen University, Professor Rasheed Jimoh, has announced that the institution has secured full accreditation for all 13 programmes presented before the National Universities Commission, marking a major milestone in its rapid development since inception.

Addressing journalists in Ilorin, the Vice-Chancellor described the achievement as a testament to “structured planning, institutional discipline and unwavering support from stakeholders,” noting that the university recorded a 100 per cent success rate in the accreditation exercise conducted in November 2025.

“We received our provisional licence in June 2023 with a vision and a legacy, but still in a formative phase. Today, we have not only commenced full academic activities but have also achieved total accreditation in all programmes presented. This is a rare feat,” Jimoh said.

He added that the accredited courses cut across humanities, management, social sciences, science and technology, stressing that the outcome confirms that the institution meets national standards in curriculum quality, staffing and infrastructure.

According to him, the success has also cleared the university for National Youth Service Corps mobilisation, a critical requirement for graduates in Nigeria.

The Vice-Chancellor further disclosed that the institution recently underwent an institutional accreditation exercise by the NUC between April 20 and 22, 2026, as part of the process for upgrading from a provisional to a full operational licence.

“The evaluation team commended our facilities, academic delivery, governance structure and administrative system. We are confident of a positive outcome,” he stated.

Jimoh emphasised that the university stands out among institutions licensed in 2023, noting that it is currently the only one in its category to have secured programme accreditation.

“This is not just an achievement; it is a strong indicator of quality assurance and our commitment to excellence,” he said.

He expressed appreciation to key stakeholders, including the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and other prominent supporters such as Bukola Saraki, for their contributions to the growth of the university.

Looking ahead, Jimoh said the institution is positioning itself as a centre for digital innovation, research and entrepreneurship, with plans to introduce postgraduate programmes and expand international collaborations.

“Our goal is not just to produce graduates, but individuals who are intellectually sound, morally upright and socially responsible,” he said.

He noted that the university draws inspiration from the legacy of Sheikh Muhammad Kamalud-deen Al-Adaby, founder of the Ansarul-Islam Society of Nigeria, describing the institution as “a continuation of a historic educational movement that bridges tradition with modern knowledge.”

The Vice-Chancellor appealed to Nigerians and educational philanthropists to support the institution’s growth, while encouraging parents to consider it for their children.

“With our affordable tuition and commitment to quality education and moral excellence, we offer a worthwhile investment in the future of Nigerian youths,” Jimoh added.
