Gov Ododo tasks appointees on transparency and accountability

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has stressed that transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance are non-negotiable principles that all political appointees must adhere to.

This emphasis on good governance is in line with his administration’s commitment to openness and citizen participation.

The Governor made this statement during the opening of a Leadership Retreat and Ministerial Briefing aimed at enhancing the performance and productivity of commissioners, special advisers, and directors-general of government agencies in the state.

Speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mrs. Folashade Ayoade Arike, Governor Ododo, stressed that the primary objective of the retreat was twofold: to enhance leadership skills and to foster public trust through good governance.

He reiterated that strong leadership would lay the groundwork for the state’s transformation, driving progress in vital sectors.

By prioritising good governance, Governor Ododo aims to ensure that his administration remains accountable and responsive to the needs of the people, ultimately paving the way for sustainable growth and development in Kogi State.

The retreat themed “The Advance New Direction for Continuity and Consolidation to Strategic Development,” aims to promote teamwork and collaboration among appointees to drive sustainable progress in the state.

Governor Ododo, emphasised the importance of productivity and infrastructure development in transforming Kogi State, urging participants to actively contribute to the state’s growth. He stressed that collective efforts will be crucial in realizing this vision.

By fostering a collaborative environment, the retreat aims to enhance the performance and productivity of commissioners, special advisers, and directors-general of government agencies in Kogi State.

The Governor also showcased the impressive progress his administration has made, particularly in the areas of agriculture, education, and economic development, as well as initiatives focused on human development.

He noted the crucial role his appointees play in driving the state’s continued growth and progress, highlighting that teamwork and a commitment to public service are essential for Kogi State’s advancement.

Under his leadership, the state has witnessed significant improvements in infrastructure development, healthcare, and social welfare programs. The governor’s focus on inclusivity, transparency, and accountability has fostered a sense of trust among the people, and his administration’s efforts to promote entrepreneurship and job creation have started to bear fruit.

By acknowledging the vital contributions of his appointees, Governor Ododo underscored the importance of collective effort in achieving the state’s development goals.

In his closing remarks, Governor Ododo urged all political appointees to take advantage of the opportunity to enhance their skills, saying that effective leadership is crucial in positively impacting the lives of Kogi State residents.

He reaffirmed his commitment to building a brighter future for the state through good governance, transparency, and accountability, ultimately prioritising the welfare and well-being of the people.
