British High Commission welcomes 99 Nigerian Chevening and Commonwealth Scholars

The British High Commission, has celebrated 99 Nigerian graduates of the Chevening and Commonwealth Scholarship programmes.

The scholars, comprising 30 Chevening and 69 Commonwealth awardees, completed master’s, PhD, and fellowship programmes in the UK.

British Deputy High Commissioner, Mrs. Gill Lever, praised the Scholars’ achievements, stating that, they will contribute to Nigeria’s development with their new skills and knowledge.

The Scholars equally shared their experiences and plans to apply their expertise in Nigeria.

Chevening Scholar, Nankur Ramdur, plans to promote peace and security, while Commonwealth Scholar Chimdi Ekwueme aimed to apply health policy insights gained in the UK.

The Chevening programme, funded by the UK Government, supports future leaders worldwide. Commonwealth Scholarships, managed by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, have funded over 31,000 individuals since 1959. Nigeria has over 4,500 alumni from both programmes.
