APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro, launches book, as he celebrate 60th birthday

The Deputy National Publicity Secretary, All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, popularly known as “Duro” who clocked 60 years old, has celebrated his new age with a book launch on Thursday in Abuja.

The colorful event which was held at ThisDay Dome, Abuja, was attended by personalities from within and across the Country. Some of these personalities present are, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Jubrin Barua from Kano State who represent the Senate. Also in attendance are representatives from House of Representative, APC leaders, representative of States governors, Kogi governor’s Rep., friends, colleagues, political associates, family and well wishers stormed the occasion in ground style.

Honourable Meseko who is a publisher, Public and International Relation expertise, editor, and analyst cum-politician, has demonstrated his patriotism as a journalist, entrepreneur and legislator to shape the country and people through his wealth of experience in the media.

From Odo-Ape Bunu, Kabba, Kogi State; a Community deeply rooted in tradition, communal values and discipline, Meseko was born on the 22nd of May, 1966, in Kabba, Kogi State, and attended St. Barnabas Secondary School, Kabba, where he completed his secondary education with WASC Certificate in 1982.

Duro obtained Higher School Certificate from Kwara State College of Technology, Ilorin in 1986 and gained admission into Ahmad Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State where he obtained B.Sc (Hons) in Political Science in 1989.

He equally went to Abuja University and obtained Master degree in International Relations. Hon Meseko also acquired a certificate in Oil and Gas Business Reporting from the International Human Resources Development Corporation, Boston, USA in 2003.

Mellowing down on his Journalism carrier, Hon. Meseko started his Journalism carrier as a staff writer with the Courier Magazine between 1990 and 1992. He moved from there to the Tell Magazine where he served as a Political and Foreign Affairs reporter. He was a News Magazine assistant editor, and senior editorial position in This day newspaper where he equally served as Senior Assistant Editor and later Political editor between 19997 and 1999.

Later, in life journey, Hon. Duro Meseko became the Chief Press Secretary to Dr. Olusola Saraki, between 2000-2003; a role that placed him at the center of political communication and strategic media relations.

He didn’t just stop there. He was also a special assistant on HYPPADEC to the governor of Kogi State in 2012-2014, under Governor Idris Wada. Duro was also a publisher, the owner of Confluence Mirror Newspaper since 2004 till date. He also served in Kogi State House of Assembly Commission (two terms) as a member.

Coming into his political carrier and involvement: he became active in politics when he was elected Member, House of Representatives in 2003 to 2007 representing Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency where he served as Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Gas Resources.

After that, Durosinmi entered again into his earlier field of journalism though this time with political environment where he served as Kogi State director, media and publicity, APC Governorship Campaign in 2015. He is also a member of the APC Caucus in Kogi State since 2014 to date.

He then, became the Deputy National Publicity Secretary from 2023 till date and also the Chairman, Governing Council, Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI).

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during the birthday, described him as a patriotic, media entrepreneur, and whose policy direction and development trajectory consistently advocated for the welfare of the people, adding that his lofty achievements in media, communications, community development and governance is commendable.

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Jubrin Barua on his part, described Hon Meseko as a man of the people and a complete gentleman.

APC was not left out of the encomium as its National leaders described Hon Duro Meseko’s life as remarkable, dedicated public service, steadfast, progressive ideals, an enduring commitment to national development.
