The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, has led a government delegation to Gbajigbo village to commiserate with the victims and residents following a tragic boat mishap that claimed several lives.

During a visit to the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Shehu Omar Bagidi Kiyaru IV, Danladi-Salihu conveyed Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s deep sorrow over the incident.

“We are here on behalf of the Governor to express his heartfelt sadness over this unfortunate tragedy,” the Speaker stated, adding that the Governor sent the delegation to obtain firsthand information and offer support.

The Speaker urged residents and sea travelers in the state to adhere strictly to safety protocols, including the use of life jackets provided by the government.

“It is important to remind our people that wearing life jackets and following safety measures are crucial in preventing such incidents,” he said.

Following the condolence visit, the delegation proceeded to Gbajigbo village, where Danladi-Salihu met with survivors and community leaders.

He announced a cash donation of N2 million to cover medical expenses for survivors and support for the families of the deceased.

He also promised the government’s further intervention through the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the refurbishment of the community’s basic health center and primary school.

The Emir of Kaiama commended the swift response of Governor AbdulRazaq, praying for the safety of the delegation and the community’s recovery.
