From David Onuoja, Abuja

The House of Representatives has passed the second reading, a bill seeking to establish a Federal Medical Centre at Isanlu, in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State in order to take care of medical emergencies in Kogi West.

The bill which was sponsored by Hon. Leke Abejide (ADC), representing Yagba West of Kogi State, was unanimously passed by voice vote at the plenary  recently.

Leading the debate on the bill, Hon. Abejide said when the Federal Medical Centre in Isanlu is established, it will have a profound impact on the lives of millions of Nigerians.

According to him, the establishment of the medical centre is long overdue, adding that Yagba East lacks adequate medical facilities, forcing residents to travel long distances for quality healthcare.
