From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

Kwara All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Professor Wale Sulaiman, has outlined his vision for the state, emphasising job creation, education, and continuation of the current administration’s achievements.

Speaking during a media parley in Ilorin, Sulaiman urged Nigerians to remain optimistic despite challenges facing the country.

“I believe Nigeria is at a crossroad. We have seen economic transformation in the last few years, and while hardships remain, the trajectory is positive. Security, infrastructure, and meeting the needs of ordinary people remain challenges, but these can be addressed with capable leadership,” he said.

Sulaiman, who highlighted his humble beginnings and international experience as a neurosurgeon, stressed the importance of opportunity. “It was education that brought me here. I grew up in the ghetto of Lagos, but with good governance and opportunities, I was able to pursue medical training abroad. We must recreate that pathway so that the child of nobody can become somebody,” he stated.

The APC aspirant further outlined his priorities, emphasising job creation across sectors including agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, and international partnerships. He also reaffirmed his support for the APC’s national and state initiatives, citing the Renewed Hope Agenda as a model for progress.

“We need to continue to provide social safety nets, create economic opportunities, and ensure our youth and students have access to educational programs and student loans. Leadership is not about money alone; it is about tackling the real issues affecting people,” he said.

Sulaiman concluded with a call to collective action, urging Nigerians to engage in governance and harness the country’s talent and resources. “We are giant of Africa. We must demonstrate it and continue to lead on the continent and globally,” he added.
