From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin
The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Kwara, Right Reverend Sunday Adewole, has called on Nigerians to embrace righteousness, charity, and hope as the country faces tough economic times.
Delivering his sermon during the 2025 Easter Sunday service at the Cathedral of Saint Barnabas Church, Sabo-Oke, Ilorin, Bishop Adewole, reflected on The Significance of Christ’s Resurrection for Christians, stressing that Christ’s resurrection is the bedrock of the Christian faith.
He said the resurrection signifies freedom from eternal damnation, forgiveness of sins, and the hope of life after death.
“Through his resurrection, we are free from eternal damnation. If he had not risen, the hope of heaven would have been lost,” the bishop said.
“His resurrection reminds us there is life after death and judgment to come. This should inspire us to do good and live according to God’s word.”
Bishop Adewole urged Christians to remain hopeful for Christ’s return and to show love, charity, and commitment to God and humanity.
He also appealed to government at all levels to do more in alleviating the suffering of Nigerians.
“The government is trying, but we are still hungry. Like Oliver Twist, we ask for more. They should lead with the fear of God and take bolder steps to ease the hardship in the land.” he said.
