Christians have been charged to have absolute commitment to their faith by always speaking the truth and ready to defend their faith in the face of challenges and adversaries.

This admonition was contained in the bishop’s charge delivered by the Diocesan bishop of Okene Anglican Diocese, Rt Rev Emmanuel Onsachi, while addressing delegates during the first session of the sixth synod, held at the Anglican Church,Obeiba-Ihima.

While speaking on the theme of the synod,”The faith of our fathers: Anglicanism in Ebira land, Challenges and prospects”, Rt Rev Onsachi, urged Christians in the area not to compromise the faith of the fore-bearers of the church who suffered series of persecution to put the church on sound footing, stressing that believers in Christ must hold on to their faith and defend it.

Speaking further, the clergy, charged Christians to spread and promote Christianity through peaceful persuasion.

He condemned the acts of lawlessness, criminalities and bloodshed that is gaining attention in some churches and prayed God to deliver churches afflicted from all evil.

While speaking on the influence of the Anglican Church in the area, the Diocesan bishop listed numerous achievement of the church, especially in the area of education.

Speaking on the challenges facing the church, he expressed worry over the neglect of the church by well to do members, especially those in diaspora. He called members to have a change of heart, so that the church can be self sustaining.

Speaking on state of affairs in kogi state, the Anglican bishop, commended the governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for ensuring peace, security and general infrastructural development across the state.

The three days synod also witnessed  recognition and elevation of some hardworking clergies in the church.
