Kogi to set up school inspection and supervision Task Force

In a bid to revitalise primary and secondary education, the Kogi State Government is set to establish an Education Task Force across all 21 Local Government Areas.

The task force will be responsible for inspecting and supervising schools, ensuring the effective implementation of government policies aimed at improving education standards.

The State Commissioner for Education Hon. Wemi Jones made this known at the stakeholders meeting for the reformation of the Education Task Force held in Lokoja.

The Eleven Man Team whose members would be drawn from Nigerian Union of Teachers NUT, Association of staff union of secondary schools (ASUSS), Education Secretaries (ES), Area Evaluators Education (AEE), National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) Association of Model Islamic Schools (AMIS), Religious and Traditional Institutions, PTA , Youth Organizations amongst others would be at the Local Government level and the three Senatorial Districts.

The task force he said would be empowered to monitor, inspect and evaluate primary and secondary schools in the State to ensure full implementation of Government policies and Programs in Education .

The Commissioner who appealed to the stakeholders to work with the Ministry to restore the glory of education said Government alone can not address the challenges in Education.

Education, he noted , is not all about spending money, but proper planning and execution of government policies and programs, saying that the State Government has made huge investment in Education and would not allow it to go to waste.

The Government of Alhaji. Usman Ahmed Ododo he said would continue to build on the solid foundation already put in place by his predecessor, Alhaji. Yahaya Bello in Education and would make sure that the investment made in Education would not be ruined.

Speaking at the meeting, the special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Hon. Abdullahi Abdulmalik said the Education Monitoring Team would be saddled with the responsibility of inspecting and monitoring schools while sensitising students against indulging in social vices.

In his remarks, the Chairman Forum of Education Secretaries, Kogi Local Government Education Secretary, Mr. Salihu Adamu Usman commended the Government for prioritising Education, promising that the Forum of Education Secretaries would continue to do their best in the implementation of Government policies and programs in Education.

The Meeting had in attendance the Education Secretaries from the 21 Local Government Areas of the State and the Zonal Directors of Education, The Kogi State Science, Technical Education & Teaching Service Commission, STETSCOM.
