Kogi NAWOJ advocates for buses to ease transportation

Kogi State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), has called on State Government to put measures in place to ameliorate the sufferings of civil servants in the face of the recent fuel hike.

The call which is contained in a communique issued at the end of its monthly Congress meeting was signed by the Chairperson, Comrade Edoka Stella in Lokoja.

It equally called on Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to consider the work-at-home policy as introduced by some State Governments across the country.

NAWOJ also appealed to the government to set up a tax force committee to monitor trailers coming to buy rice paddy from the State which has increased the price of the commodity and equally deprived the citizens access to the commodity.

As part of its activities for the month, kogi NAWOJ also paid an advocacy visit to the state Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Timothy Ojoma, where it sought the support of the ministry to fulfill its mandate

The Chairperson, who said part of its mandate is to assist vulnerable women and children in society, urged the ministry to provide further encouragement and resources for women in agriculture.

Comrade Edoka praised the Commissioner for his achievements in the ministry, particularly for transforming perceptions of women’s capabilities in the agricultural sector.

In his response, Honourable Ojoma, pledged to support and collaborate with Kogi NAWOJ in advancing agricultural initiatives.

He emphasised the importance of partnering with NAWOJ on an advocacy campaign aimed at raising awareness about the current administration’s dedication to empowering women in agriculture.

The Commissioner commended NAWOJ for its interest in farming and encouraged more women to engage in agricultural activities.
