President Bola Tinubu has approved the reappointment of Kogi born Adamu Adaji as the Director-General of the National Boundary Commission for the second term.

A statement by the Head of Information and Public Relations Unit, Efe Ovuakporie, said Adaji’s reappointment was communicated in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

According to Ovuakporiethe, the appointment was effective from August 7 2024, for another four years.

The letter read, “I am pleased to inform you that His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has approved the renewal of your appointment as Director-General of the National Boundary Commission for a second and final term of four years, in accordance with the provisions of Section 16 (1) and (3)(a) of the National Boundary Commission (Establishment) Act, 2006.

“This appointment is effective from 7th August 2024, and your emoluments and other conditions of service shall be as provided under the Certain Political, Public and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2008.”

Ovuakporie said Adaji has an impressive track record of exceptional performance, leading to the significant transformation of the NBC and advancing boundary management in Nigeria since the agency’s inception.

The statement added, “Adaji holds an MSc in Land Surveying from Ahmadu Bello University and an MPA in Public Administration from the University of Maiduguri.

“He joined the NBC in 1992 as an Assistant Chief Surveyor, having previously worked as a Lecturer at A.B.U., Zaria.

“Through hard work, he rose to the position of Director at the NBC and was appointed substantive DG on August 8 2020.

“His reappointment is expected to further expand the Agency’s scope of operations and establish a peaceful boundary regime in Nigeria’s 86 interstate boundary communities and international boundaries.”
