Council polls: KOSIEC set to improve performance

As the Council Polls draw closer, the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), has declared its readiness to improve its performance in the October 19, Local Government election in the state.

Chairman of KOSIEC, Mamman Nda Eri, made this known today at a sensitization workshop on “Sustainable Electoral Process in Contemporay Times”, held at the Nigeria Union of Teachers Conference hall Lokoja.

Eri, said every organization passes through learning and improvement, maintaining that the electoral umpire would do its best to give Kogi State electorates the best council election this year

The KOSIEC Boss, thanked stakeholders of the various political parties in the state for their contributions during the workshop. He stated that the commission has taken note of the salient points they raised and will continue to engage them in the business of conducting elections in the state.

A participant at the workshop who doubles as the Kogi East Zonal chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) party, Ibrahim Yusuf, called on opposition parties to put their house in order.

He, stated that if the opposition parties are prepared to defend the processes of election in the state, KOSIEC will perform to the expectations of the electorates.

President of leadership integrity forum and organizer of the workshop, Bamidele Suru, advised political parties to eschew political godfatherism and give room for fair contest among interested politicians.
