A truckload of fertiliser allocated to Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State, has been looted by some youths in Demsa,.

This, according to findings, occurred at the palace of the paramount traditional ruler, Hama Bata Alhamdu Teneke.

The looting accordingly reportedly happened due to a lack of proper storage facilities in the local government area. The truck, which was being transported to the king’s palace for safekeeping, fell into a drain. As it became stuck, youths in the area began the looting of the products.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the council, Akam Samda Jallo criticised the vendor for not informing him of their journey to deliver the fertiliser to the Hama Bata’s palace, noted that the vendor, responsible for the distribution of fertiliser in Yola, should have await his go-ahead before commencing the trip to Demsa.

The Council Chairman further revealed that they have identified a prime suspect who allegedly incited the youths to loot the fertiliser, which was intended for distribution to local farmers during the rainy season.

He denied rumors that the looters were connected to the #EndBadGovernance protesters, clarifying that the theft was orchestrated by the unnamed suspect.

Explaining further, the Chairman said, the truck became stuck and eventually fell due to the poor condition of the road, creating an opportunity for some youths in Demsa to loot the fertiliser.

Security source outfit confirmed that several youths have been arrested in connection with the looting and are accused of distributing the stolen fertiliser.
