The Adamawa State Government, has marked Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary with visits to major hospitals across the state with support for patients, including newborn babies delivered on Independence Day.

The outreach featured distribution of toiletries, sanitary materials and financial support to newborns, nursing mothers and pregnant women as part of activities commemorating the anniversary.
The gesture was carried out in collaboration with the State Ministries of Information and Strategy and Women Affairs and was extended to health facilities across the state.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barr. Iliya James, who led the delegation, told journalists that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri personally provided the items and cash assistance as part of a low-key Independence Day celebration aimed at putting smiles on the faces of mothers and children.
James said expectant mothers were also included in the initiative, stressing that the governor considered their welfare important as the state joined the rest of the country to mark the anniversary.
On her part, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Neido Kofulto, described children born on Independence Day as special gifts to Nigeria, adding that supporting newborns, their mothers and pregnant women was a thoughtful way of celebrating the anniversary while highlighting maternal and child welfare.
Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, Mrs. Blessing Emmanuel, who recently gave birth to twins, expressed appreciation for the gesture.
“I never expected this gift today. I was shocked seeing all of this, coupled with the financial package,” she said, lauding the government for supporting mothers receiving medical care and assisting newborns.
