The Northern Governors’ Spouses’ Forum (NGSF), has adopted a two-point agenda as part of its intervention in Adamawa State.
The Forum said it will sink 20 boreholes and implement empowerment programmes for women, children and other vulnerable groups in the state.
The decisions were contained in a communique issued at the end of its second tri-annual meeting held recently at the Adamawa State Government House, Yola.
The meeting, which was chaired by the Chairperson of the Forum and wife of the Gombe State Governor, Hajiya Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, was hosted by the wife of the Adamawa State Governor, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri.

According to the communique, members reviewed the Forum’s activities, assessed progress made, discussed issues affecting the region and mapped out plans for future programmes.
It said the meeting provided a platform to strengthen collaboration and advance initiatives on the wellbeing and empowerment of women, children and other vulnerable persons.
The Forum also resolved to strengthen and expand collaboration with development partners, especially on the welfare, empowerment, protection and development of women and children across Northern Nigeria, and to sustain existing projects to ensure lasting impact.
It added that the next meeting of the Forum will be hosted by the North Central geopolitical zone at a date and venue to be communicated later.
Meanwhile, Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has pledged continued support for the Forum’s grassroots interventions.
Governor Fintiri gave the assurance when he received members of the Forum at Government House, Yola, during a courtesy visit led by Hajiya Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya.
The governor commended the Forum’s humanitarian and development efforts, noting that its interventions have reached vulnerable people and communities.
He said building Nigeria into a model for other countries requires commitment from all stakeholders and assured the Forum of his administration’s readiness to partner with it.
Fintiri also acknowledged the role governors’ wives play in supporting their husbands and in championing issues affecting women and children.
He urged the Forum to use its deliberations to address poverty and other challenges confronting women and children in Northern Nigeria.
