The Association of Igbo Community in Ebira land, has disasociated itself from the protest organised last week in Okene, by a group of Igbos operating under the umbrella of Igbo traders.
This clarification is contained in a press statement issued during the week in Okene by the president General of the Association of Igbo community in Ebira land, Chief Joseph Anikwe.
In the press statement, Chief Anikwe distanced the mother association from action of the Igbo traders, saying “the association is neither privy nor in support of the misguided Igbo traders, which tend to challenge the recent upward review of personal income tax across the state by Kogi State Internal Revenue Service.
The association president, further stated that, members of Igbo community have lived peacefully in the area under the allegiance and authority of government agencies and would not question government policies or actions, especially if it affects all the citizens.

The statement therefore urged the State Internal Revenue Service, to disregard the actions of the Igbo traders.
Chief Anikwe then cautioned individual Igbo and groups in the area not to engage in anything that will portray the Igbos in the area in bad light.
The Igbo association leader then seized the opportunity to commend the efforts of Kogi State government, especially in the area of peace and security.
