Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has donated a brand-new 500KVA transformer for Zango- Daji community, a suberb of Lokoja, the state capital in fulfillment of earlier promise he made to the area.

This gesture, according to some residents of the area who spoke with newsmen, has significantly restored hope to hundreds of traders and residents who had endured months without electricity.

Speaking during the Presentation of the transformer, Commissioner for Rural and Energy Development, Engr. Muhammed Abdulmutalib, represented by his Technical Assistant, Alhaji Isah Sule, said the gesture once again demonstrated Governor Ododo’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of the people through the provision of essential infrastructure.

Engr. Abdulmutalib noted that the transformer would significantly improve electricity supply, stimulate economic activities, enhance security, and accelerate development within the community.

The Commissioner commended Governor Ododo for fulfilling his promise without delay and urged residents to collectively protect the transformer against vandalism so that it would continue to serve both present and future generations.

In his address, President of the Timber Market Association, represented by Mr. Victor Ojukwu, expressed overwhelming gratitude ; just as he said the community was “100 percent happy” because Governor Ododo had demonstrated a rare culture of making and keeping promises.

According to him, many residents initially doubted that the promise would be fulfilled within the stipulated time, but the Governor exceeded expectations by delivering exactly when he said he would.

He described the Governor as a humble and compassionate leader who listens directly to the people and responds promptly to their needs.

Victor disclosed that businesses within the market had suffered greatly during the three months of blackout, as traders depended on expensive diesel-powered generators to keep their businesses running.

He said the installation of the new transformer would reduce operating costs, revive commercial activities, and improve the livelihoods of hundreds of traders.

He assured the State Government that the Timber Market Association would take full responsibility for safeguarding the transformer against vandalism.

Also speaking, a resident of the community, Madam Bosede Mesicko, recalled how a woman from the community stopped Governor Ododo’s convoy and passionately appealed to him over the prolonged power outage.

She explained that the Governor listened attentively and promised that a transformer would arrive on Tuesday, adding that many residents found it difficult to believe until the promise became reality.

Describing Governor Ododo as a leader who “talks and does,” she prayed for God’s continued protection, wisdom, and success for the Governor.

Madam Mesicko declared that the Governor’s performance had further strengthened the confidence of the people in his administration, expressing optimism that the people would overwhelmingly support him in the 2027 governorship election.

According to her, Governor Ododo’s responsiveness to the needs of ordinary citizens has earned him the trust and admiration of the people, making his re-election bid one that enjoys widespread grassroots support.
