Adamawa southern senatorial elders of All Progressive Congress (APC), have endorsed Chief Peter Fwa, as anounted candidate for the senatorial seat.
Speaking to journalists during the endorsement, the leader of the elders, Muyinani Aini, said they have carefully observed recent developments within their party as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC Elders of the district which cut across, nine local government areas of the state, including Numan, Lamurde, Demsa, Guyuk, Shelleng, Ganye, Jada, Mayo-Belwa, and Toungo Local Government Areas, made the zone.
Aini said they fully align with the leadership’s commitment to a transparent, credible, and peaceful primary process, and they find it necessary to clearly and unequivocally state their position.
With the man of the moment, Aini noted that, “in the event that ongoing alignments and realignments shape the direction of their party, Chief Peter Fwa, remains their preferred and authentic candidate for the Adamawa South Senatorial seat.
“It is on record that Chief Peter Fwa contested for this same position in 2019 and gave a commendable account of himself, he added.
The spokesman accordingly noted that, he was widely accepted by delegates as the candidate of choice but, in deference to party unity and the counsel of elders, he stepped down for the eventual winner. This singular act underscores his deep respect for party supremacy, discipline, and the collective interest above personal ambition”.
He revealed that since then, Chief Fwa has remained steadfast, loyal, and committed to the growth and stability of the APC, without agitation for appointments or personal gain.
He said that as a true grassroot politician, he has consistently supported party activities across all levels, from units, wards to LGAs and the state, both financially and physically.
He stressed, “His aspiration to represent Adamawa South in the Senate is not driven by personal ambition, but by a genuine response to the clarion call of the people. Having lived among the people and shared in their realities, he possesses a deep understanding of their needs and aspirations.
“Chief Fwa has demonstrated this commitment through impactful initiatives, including youth empowerment, skills acquisition programmes, scholarship support for indigent students, and active involvement in peace-building and job creation efforts”.
Aini recalled that, his track record reflects a man prepared not just to lead, but to serve and that his entry into the race is motivated by a desire to confront the longstanding challenges of inadequate representation and to complement ongoing efforts in addressing underdevelopment, insecurity, and youth unemployment across the zone.
“While we acknowledge the pedigree of other aspirants, many of whom have held public office, we find it difficult to reconcile their years in service with the limited tangible impact on our zone.
“In contrast, the individual contributions and interventions of Chief Peter Leonard Fwa stand out as visible, measurable, and people-oriented”, he explained.
He said that it is on the strength of the verifiable facts and their firm conviction in his competence that they hereby unanimously endorse Chief Fwa as their preferred candidate.
“We respectfully call on Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and leader of our party, as well as the APC leadership at all levels and critical stakeholders, to align with this aspiration and support Chief Fwa as the party’s flag bearer for the Adamawa South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
He added that they are confident that the decision will not only guarantee electoral victory for the APC, but will also usher in effective, responsive, and people-centered representation for their people. Most of the elders who spoke at the event, commended Governor Fintiri, as well as the aspirant.
