Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has urged youth leaders in the All Progressive Congress (APC), across the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs), of the state, to intensify grassroots mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Governor Ododo gave the charge when he received APC youth leaders from various LGAs at Government House, Lokoja.

Speaking further, he urged them to take ownership of the party’s mobilisation efforts and ensure that the achievements of the Tinubu led administration are communicated effectively to the people.

The Governor described the forthcoming election as an opportunity for the party to demonstrate it’s commitment to good governance, insisting that the youths must be prepared to defend the party’s record through constructive engagement with voters.

He further emphasised the need for them to prepare for the APC rally scheduled to hold in Kogi State on December 8, describing it as another opportunity to demonstrate the party’s strength and readiness for the elections.

Ododo used the occasion to appeal to the youth leaders to go to their respective communities, engage residents and explain the achievements of the Tinubu led administration, noting that effective grassroots communication remained critical for securing electoral support.

“Go back to your various local governments, sensitise the people and let them understand what President Tinubu has done and why he deserves another opportunity to continue his good work,” he charged.

The Governor cited ongoing and completed infrastructural projects as evidence of Federal Government’s commitment to Kogi State, including the proposed international airport, the Lokoja–Okene–Benin expressway and the Ankpa erosion control project, whose extension, he said, had received approval.

He also disclosed that the Ibaji road project would be flagged off on the ninth of this month, adding that contractors handling various projects had been mobilised to site.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Monday Anyebe, appreciated Governor Ododo for providing opportunities for young people to participate in governance and political leadership.

He highlighted some of the administration’s interventions in the youth sector, including improved welfare support for students and scholarship opportunities, describing them as evidence of the Governor’s commitment to youth development.

Earlier, the State APC Youth Leader, Buhari Lokoja, expressed appreciation to Governor Ododo for his support, patience and commitment to the youth constituency.

Lokoja said the youth leaders would take the mobilisation campaign to the grassroots through community engagement and sensitisation, explaining that their familiarity with local communities and languages would help them communicate the achievements of the APC-led administrations effectively

“We are from the grassroots, so talking to our people in their own languages is not an issue. We will take the message to them and sensitise them on the development and achievements of Mr President and our Governor,” he said.

Also speaking, the Kogi State APC Chairman, Engineer Momoh Aliyu, described the emergence and inauguration of youth leaders across the state as a welcome development.
