New NSCDC Kwara Commandant takes charge, vows tough action against vandals and saboteurs

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has officially announced the assumption of duty of Commandant Abbas Mohammed as the 16th substantive State Commandant.

This was disclosed in a statement issued in Ilorin by ASC 1 Ayoola Shola, the Command’s Public Relations Officer.

According to the statement, Commandant Mohammed, resumed office on Monday, April 13, 2026, following the redeployment of the former Commandant, Bala Bodinga, to the National Headquarters of the Corps.

The new State Commandant brings over 20 years of operational and administrative experience within the NSCDC, having served in various strategic formations across the country. His previous postings include Zone 4 Headquarters, Minna; Head of Operations, NSCDC Kwara State Command; Head of Anti-Vandal Unit in Niger State; Area Commander in Kainji LGA; Divisional Officer in Edati LGA; Head of Counter-Terrorism Unit in Zamfara State; as well as several roles within the FCT Command. Until his latest deployment, he served as Commandant, Zone 4 Headquarters, Minna.

Speaking shortly after taking over leadership of the Command in Ilorin, Abbas Mohammed, reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property, securing critical national assets, and enhancing intelligence-led policing across Kwara State.

He issued a strong warning to criminals, vandals, and economic saboteurs, stressing that the State would not be a safe haven for unlawful activities.

“Kwara State will not be a safe haven for criminals. We are fully prepared to deploy all necessary operational strategies to ensure the safety and security of lives and property,” he said.

The new Commandant also pledged stronger collaboration with sister security agencies, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders to deepen peace and security across the State.

The Command urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information that will assist security agencies in their operations.
