From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has arrested three suspects for allegedly vandalising and stealing railway clips and nuts along the railway corridor in Offa Local Government Area.

The arrests followed the handover of an 18-year-old, Mosahudu Salisu, to NSCDC operatives by an official of the Nigeria Railway Corporation after he was caught at Adeleke Area of Offa attempting to convey the stolen items on a motorcycle.
Further investigation by the Offa Division led to the arrest of two more suspects: 19-year-old Hassan Abu, identified as the principal actor in the vandalisation, and 35-year-old Abubakar Mohammed, who allegedly served as the middleman between the vandal and the buyer.
All three suspects are in custody and assisting investigators.
While parading the suspects in Ilorin, the State Commandant, Dr Umar Mohammed, described the destruction of railway infrastructure as a dangerous crime that undermines national development. “Acts like this are not just theft; they threaten public safety and weaken our collective economic progress.”
He praised the Offa Division for what he called their “professionalism and coordinated intelligence gathering”, that ensured the swift apprehension of the culprits.
Dr Mohammed reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding critical national assets across Kwara State and assured that the suspects would be prosecuted at the end of investigations.
He also appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and reliable information, saying such community support remains vital to enhancing safety across the state.
