From Joseph Adahnu, Yola

Adamawa State Police Command has debunked a social media report claiming the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) chairman, was beheaded by Fulani terrorists in the state.

The police described the allegation as fake and aimed at causing panic, tension, and religious disaffection among residents.

This is contained in a statement by the state command, through the Police image maker, SP Suleiman Nguroje.

According to the police, the report originated from a Facebook user identified as Lionman Lioni, and there’s no record of such an incident in Adamawa State.

Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, urged the public to disregard the fake report and verify information from credible sources before sharing.

The police have launched an investigation to track down and prosecute those behind the false publication, warning against attempts to incite violence through fake news.

The command remains committed to maintaining law and order, ensuring the safety of all residents, irrespective of faith or ethnicity.
