Ododo Receives winner of Okura Bye-Election

The Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Monday received the All Progressives Congress (APC), winning team from the just concluded bye-election in Okura State Constituency, Dekina Local Government Area.

The APC candidate, Hon. Hassan Yakubu Musa, emerged victorious with 55,073 votes, defeating his closest rival, Hon. Godwin Meliga of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 1,038 votes.

While presenting himself and the results of the election to the Governor, Hon. Musa, expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for his massive support throughout the process.

He assured the Governor and the people of Okura that, upon inauguration, he would work with his colleagues in the State House of Assembly to make laws that would support the administration’s drive for a better Kogi State.

In his remarks, Governor Ododo congratulated the winner and charged him to prioritise service to his people.

“Your election result shows the faith of the people of Okura Constituency in our party, the All Progressives Congress, and in your personality. We cannot afford to let them down,” the Governor said.

Governor Ododo further emphasised that the APC would continue to prosper in Kogi State, noting that the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,  have empowered his administration to do more for the grassroots. He urged the people of Kogi to continue to support the APC as the dominant party in the state.

The winner was presented to the Governor by the State Auditor General, Alhaji Yakubu Omala, the State Party Secretary, Mr. Joshua Onoja, Dekina Local Government Chairman, Hon. John Ikani and several other party stalwarts.
