• Party concludes three-day ‘thank you’ tour of Kwara South
From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in Kwara State, concluded their three-day appreciation tour of Kwara South with visits to Isin and Ifelodun Local Government Areas, where traditional rulers reaffirmed their support for the party and pledged to mobilise their people ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Led by the party’s governorship candidate and Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, the delegation had earlier visited Ekiti, Oke-Ero, Oyun, Offa and Irepodun Local Government Areas, receiving warm receptions from traditional rulers, party leaders and supporters.
Speaking at his palace in Igbaja, the Elese of Igbaja, Oba Ahmed Babalola Awuni Arepo III, described Danladi’s emergence as the APC governorship candidate as a divine project and urged residents to support him.
The monarch also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and APC stakeholders, for ensuring the Kwara South senatorial ticket rotated to Igbomina after previous turns by Ekiti and Ibolo, describing the decision as a demonstration of equity, justice and fairness.
He offered prayers for the success of all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
At Isanlu-Isin, the Olusin of Isanlu-Isin and Chairman of the Isin Local Government Traditional Council, Oba (Dr.) Solomon Olugbenga Oloyede (Atobatele II), said the community had benefited significantly from the APC administration and was ready to reciprocate through overwhelming electoral support.
“This is payback period. We in Isin Local Government are united in our decision to repay with our votes what we have received from the present government. Isin has witnessed rapid development under this administration, especially in school infrastructure. We are proud of this government,” the monarch said.
He added that the state government’s support had also strengthened efforts by the Isin Local Government Chairman to address security challenges in the area.
“That alone is enough reason for us to support APC. Ore la fi n san ore (Kindness is repaid with kindness). I therefore urge our royal fathers to mobilise their communities in this direction,” he said.
Responding, Danladi thanked the Olusin, the Isin Traditional Council, religious leaders and residents for their continued support for the APC administration.
“We are here as APC candidates to appreciate you for standing firmly behind the administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We are aware of the security challenges facing Isin, and the government is doing everything possible to restore lasting peace,” he said.
He explained that the visit was aimed at expressing gratitude before the commencement of official election campaigns.
“Following our party primaries and the submission of candidates’ names to INEC, we considered it necessary to pay homage to you before campaigns begin. We recognise your unwavering support for this administration. By the grace of God, we will not disappoint you and will sustain the good legacies of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,” Danladi added.
The APC senatorial candidate for Kwara South, Prince Lekan Adewoye, said the impressive turnout in Isin demonstrated the community’s commitment to the party.
Similarly, the APC House of Representatives candidate for the Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency, Mrs. Florence Olasumbo Oyeyemi, thanked party members for their loyalty and promised effective representation if elected.
The APC House of Representatives candidate for the Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency, Dr. Rafiu Ajakaye, said the tour was organised to appreciate traditional rulers and stakeholders for supporting the AbdulRazaq administration.
“Our visit is to thank you for your support for this administration, and we are encouraged by the warm reception. We assure you that our governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Danladi, and the rest of us will not let you down,” Ajakaye said in Igbaja.
Supporters at the various events expressed confidence in Danladi’s leadership qualities, humility and capacity to deliver on his promises if elected.
The APC delegation was received by the Chairman of Isin Local Government, Hon. Benjamin Olarewaju Jolayemi, his Ifelodun counterpart, Hon. Femi Yusuf, traditional rulers, party leaders and other stakeholders in their respective councils.
