The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, has enjoined Christians to imbibe the lessons of Christmas for the good of the state and the country.

Rt. Hon. Umar stated this in his 2025 Christmas Message to the state.

The Speaker noted that lessons of the occasion include the need to be tolerant, persevere, be patient, and forgive, components that are key to Jesus’ teachings.

He said Christmas is a period for Christians to come together to celebrate and solemnly remember the birth of Jesus Christ and the need for family and relatives to unite for the good of the community, while rejoicing with one another.

The Speaker, who emphasised the need for the people of the state to continue to live in peace and harmony, said Kogi has a lot to teach other States of the Federation in view of its unique geographical location.

He noted the need for the people, particularly Christians, to remember the state in their prayers, noting the place of prayer in the development of the state.

He pledged the commitment of the current Kogi State House of Assembly to evolve policies and laws that would advance the state’s development.

He said the state legislators are prepared to continue to collaborate with the state executive for the benefit of the people and urged citizens to sustain their support for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, in his commitment for the development of the entire state.
