The Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Barau Jibrin, has been honoured over his legislative excellent during the year, 2024.
Responding to the award, Senator Barau said that he was happy to been chosen and honoured as the highest number of private member bills sponsored in the 10th Senate national assembly for 2024.
He reiterated that public office holders in Nigeria are partners in progress with journalists for the good of Nigerians.
Barau while commending members of the Senate Press Corps for the recognition given to him on his legislative activities, urged them to make it a competitive.
He said, the recognition will motivate him to carry out more work for his constituents in Kano State and Nigerians in general.
He maintained that recognitions like this, will put legislators on make them vibrant.
“Once you identify those who are doing well and you honour them through awards of this nature, it will create some kind of competition and will propel others to do more.
”We are no doubt, partners in progress for the good of Nigerians and Nigeria”, he said.
Earlier, the Press Corps Chairman, Mr James Itodo said, Senator Barau has the highest number of sponsored bills and positive disposition to journalists generally, which made him the grand patron of the corps.
He recalled that one of the bills sponsored by Senator Barau, was the North West Development Commission Bill, which is now an Act of parliament after presidential assent.
