Senate confirm Bernard Doro from Plateau as Humanitarian Minister

The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Bernard Duro, as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

During Doro’s screening at the plenary, he promised to prioritise transparency and efficiency in humanitarian service delivery.

According to him, “I will create a humanitarian ecosystem that is efficient, transparent, and centred on the people being cared for.”

He equally assured the lawmakers of his commitment to fostering collaboration among government agencies to avoid duplication and enhance results.

“I will build synergy among various government agencies to minimise overlap and ensure effective outcomes. Technology will play a key role in achieving these goals”, he said.

When the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, put his confirmation into voice vote, he received unanimous approval of the lawmakers, thereby, confirming his appointment.

Following the confirmation, Akpabio congratulated Doro for his commendable performance during the screening session.

Bernard Doro, was appointed after the current chairman of the All Progress Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, was appointed in July 2025. He was previously serving as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs before his ascension.
