KOGI STATE MINISTRY OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS

RE: Fake News on Recruitment of 20,000 Workers – Public Alert and Clarification

The attention of the Kogi State Government, has been drawn to a misleading and unfounded report circulating on social media and other informal platforms, claiming that the State Government is set to recruit 20,000 employees into various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The Kogi State Government categorically denounces this information as false, unfounded, and deliberately misleading. At no time did the Government announce such a recruitment drive, and no such exercise is being considered at the moment.

The administration of the Chief Servant of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, is currently focused on enhancing the operational efficiency of the state’s civil service, streamlining structures, and investing in initiatives that will promote productivity, reduce redundancy, and improve the welfare and capacity of existing workers. These are essential steps toward building a robust and sustainable public service architecture.

In addition, given the current economic realities and the need for prudent fiscal management, a large-scale recruitment of this nature is neither practical nor responsible at this time. The Government remains committed to managing state resources wisely to meet developmental goals and fulfil its obligations to the people of Kogi State.

We urge the public to disregard the fake recruitment news and refrain from spreading unverified information that could mislead unsuspecting citizens and job seekers. The peddlers of the fake news are fraudulent people who are out to defraud unsuspecting job seekers.

The Kogi State Government has established official communication channels, including its verified social media handles, website, The Graphic Newspaper , Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation and other official information platforms for authentic government updates. Any legitimate recruitment, if and when it is to take place, will be officially announced through these channels.

We assure the good people of Kogi State that the present administration remains transparent and people-focused, and will always communicate clearly and truthfully.

Signed:

Kingsley Femi Fanwo

Hon. Commissioner for Information and Communications
