The Ekiti State Police Command, has confirmed the rescue of worshippers who were abducted during an attack on the Christ Apostolic Church in Eda-Oniyo on April 28, 2026, following coordinated operations involving multiple security agencies.
The command said the victims were freed through sustained intelligence-led operations jointly carried out by the Nigeria Police Force, the military, other security agencies, the Amotekun Corps, local hunters, and with the support of the Ekiti State Government.
According to the police, the rescued victims have been taken to a medical facility where they are undergoing medical examination and receiving treatment to determine their health status after spending time in captivity.
The Commissioner of Police, Falade Michael, praised the commitment and cooperation demonstrated by all security stakeholders involved in the operation.
“The dedication, professionalism and synergy exhibited by all security stakeholders culminated in the successful rescue of the victims,” the commissioner said.
He also commended the administration of Biodun Oyebanji for its continued support to security operations across the state.
The police reaffirmed their resolve to safeguard lives and property in Ekiti, urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information that could aid efforts to tackle crime and enhance public safety.
