From Abdullahi Idris, Bauchi

A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Bauchi State, has challenged governorship aspirants within the party to present verifiable records of their achievements ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The APC chieftain said only candidates with tangible projects and credible track records should be entrusted with leadership, stressing that political relevance alone is not enough.

“Those seeking leadership must show tangible projects and credible track records, not mere political relevance,”he said.

He also called for a change in leadership in the state, blaming what he described as poor governance and lack of impactful leadership for rising insecurity, unemployment and poverty.

According to him, the APC must secure a two-term mandate to implement meaningful reforms and ensure sustainable development.

“We need continuity. APC cannot afford to rule for just one term; we must plan for eight years to deliver real change,” he stated.

The stalwart further criticised the use of financial inducements to manipulate youths during elections, warning that such practices undermine democratic values.

He urged the electorate to make informed choices, noting that the power to determine the future of the state rests with the people based on their experiences with past and present administrations.

He also expressed support for a governorship aspirant he described as credible, business-oriented and free from corruption allegations, adding that, the candidate has contributed to society through scholarships and youth empowerment initiatives.

In the same vein, Dr. Hassan Halim, the first Mai Barno of Dass, called on APC members, particularly at the grassroots, to rally round Honourable Mansur Manu Soro, a governorship aspirant under the party, to position Bauchi State as a business hub in the North-East region.
