Kogi State first lady, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, has led a campaign against digital violence on women with a charge to all female users to operate digital spaces with caution.

The advice was handed down during the flag off of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, which commenced on November 25th and runs until December 10th.
The event was held on Monday in Lokoja to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls, with the theme “Unite to End Eigital Violence Against all Women and Girls”.

Hajia Ododo, used the occasion to urge women and girls to use digital platforms wisely and to say no to digital violence.
The first lady also called on men and boys to join the fight against digital violence, saying that they have a crucial role to play in promoting a culture of respect and equality.
She emphasised the need to build a society where every woman, online and offline, was safe.
The Secretary to the Government of kogi state, Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade (PhD), said the fight against violence against women, was a collective one, and that every stakeholder must play a role in making the society safe for women and girls.
She further highlighted the importance of ensuring that workplaces are safe for women, and that they are protected from all forms of violence.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Acharu Okpanachi, in her remarks, said her ministry will work closely with other stakeholders to ensure that women and girls are protected from all forms of violence.
Other Speakers at the event noted that online violence was a pervasive problem, and that it was essential to break the silence and speak out against it.
They emphasised the need to raise awareness and promote responsible use of technology to prevent digital violence.
