From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, has commended the people of Omu-Aran for their steadfast commitment to security, following the renovation of the Omu-Aran Police Area Command and the provision of four operational police vans to enhance policing in the area.

The project, inaugurated on March 7, 2025, was a product of community-driven efforts led by His Royal Majesty, the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba AbdulRaheem Oladele Adeoti Agboluaje, and other stakeholders.

A major highlight was the donation of a vehicle by the Vice-Chancellor of Landmark University, Prof. Kolawole Ajanaku, as part of the institution’s corporate social responsibility. Additionally, well-meaning individuals facilitated the refurbishment of previously non-functional police vans.

CP Olaiya, while addressing dignitaries at the event, emphasised the importance of community participation in security matters.

“Security is a shared responsibility, and today, Omu-Aran has demonstrated how collective efforts can strengthen law enforcement. The goodwill and commitment from this community will undoubtedly enhance our operational efficiency,” he stated.

The police commissioner also praised ACP Muazu Ismail, the Area Commander overseeing the jurisdiction, alongside Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), under his supervision, for their professionalism and dedication, which he said had inspired the community’s investment in security infrastructure.

“To whom much is given, much is expected,” he added, urging officers in the area to remain committed to their duties with integrity and professionalism.

The event was attended by key dignitaries, including the Olomu of Omu-Aran, the Owa of Eruku, Oba Olarenwaju Busari Ahinde, retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Bankole Lanre Sikiru, senior police officers, and representatives of Irepodun Local Government and Landmark University.

The Kwara State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to proactive community engagement and intelligence-driven policing, assuring residents of continuous efforts to safeguard lives and property.
