From Taiye Joseph Ilorin
The Oluwole Foundation, has expanded its poverty alleviation initiative to branches of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide in Ilorin, barely a month after supporting members of its headquarters.
Chairman of the foundation, Special Apostle, Pastor Moses Popoola, said the latest phase covered 24 out of 62 branches in the metropolis, including one in Oke-Oyi, benefiting 70 people.
“Combined with the earlier outreach at the headquarters, 140 people have now been empowered, with over N36 million spent so far.
“We decided to go beyond our immediate church because God instructed us to, and also because these members are part of our larger church family,” Popoola explained.
“It is a way of reducing poverty, preaching the gospel through welfare, and helping our society.” He said
He urged beneficiaries to see the gesture as divine intervention rather than “national cake,” advising them to work hard, save, and help others.
He also called on other foundations to carry out their activities with sincerity and a focus on service to God and humanity.
Popoola, further appealed to government to prioritise agriculture, provide security in rural areas, and create employment through state or local policing, stressing that social amenities in villages would reduce rural-urban migration.
“Every rich nation builds its economy on agriculture. We should secure our farmlands, diversify from oil, and allow each region to focus on what it can produce best,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Janet Shaba, expressed gratitude to the foundation, promising to make judicious use of the support received while praying for God’s blessings on the organisation.
