In a surprising move that has sent ripples across the political landscape in Olamaboro Local Government, a major opposition to the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the area and former Labor Party House of Assembly aspirant, Honourable Sani Abdulmalik, has announced his defection and that of his supporters to the ruling party.

Hon. Abdulmalik who made the announcement on Saturday, when he led a large delegation of his supporters on a visit to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, in Government House Lokoja, cited the governor’s all inclusive leadership style as one of the primary reasons for the defection.

Reacting, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, acknowledged that the move would have significant advantage for the APC in the area most especially during the forthcoming elections; just as he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering inclusive development across the state.

Governor Ododo pointed out that the growing wave of defections into the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a testament to the confidence Nigerians have in the party’s people-oriented policies and leadership.

The Governor described Abdulmalik as a worthy ambassador of his community whose decision to join the APC would further strengthen the party’s grassroots support in Kogi East.

He assured the new entrant of equal opportunities within the party and pledged to continue working with him to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

Governor Ododo noted that Olamaboro and the entire Ankpa Federal Constituency are richly endowed with vast mineral resources capable of transforming the fortunes of the people if properly harnessed, urged the people to align with the APC government to enable it harness these resources for the benefit of the area.

This is even as he assured that his administration would continue to pursue policies and partnerships that would unlock the area’s economic potential for sustainable growth and job creation.

He equally used the forum to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to economic reforms and infrastructural development, saying the Renewed Hope initiative was laying a solid foundation for national growth.

Governor Ododo stressed that the security of lives and property must never be politicised, describing peace and security as collective responsibilities essential for meaningful development.

He urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible information to sustain the prevailing peace across the state.

Earlier, the former Labour Party House of Assembly aspirant, Sanni Abdulmalik, attributed his decision to join the APC to the visible achievements of the Ododo administration, particularly in the areas of security, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.

Hon. Abdulmalik further added that his passion and desire for this development to be extended to his people also influenced his descion to align with Governor Ododo’s administration.

He declared the APC as his new political family and pledged his unwavering support and that of his supporters toward the victory of the party in Ankpa Federal Constituency and across Kogi State.
