From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has commissioned a new security outpost in the Government Reserved Area (GRA), Ilorin.
This is part of efforts to boost grassroots security and bring protection closer to residents.
Speaking during the commissioning, the State Commandant, Dr. Umar Mohammed, said the initiative was a strategic move to deepen the Corps’ presence within the Ilorin metropolis. He explained that the outpost would serve as a hub for rapid response to emergencies, regular patrols, and collaboration with community members to check criminal activities.
“This outpost will not only enhance security presence but also provide a platform for residents to work more closely with us in preventing crime and protecting lives and property,” Dr. Umar stated. He urged residents of the area to support the Corps with timely information and cooperation to achieve a safer environment.
The Chairman of the community, Pa Abidoye, who delivered a goodwill message, commended the NSCDC for the initiative. He noted that the establishment of the outpost was a welcome development that would give residents a stronger sense of safety and deter criminal activities in the area.
The facility is expected to serve as a frontline base for officers to respond swiftly to distress calls, prevent crimes before they occur, and foster stronger ties between the security agency and the community.
