From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested seven suspected miscreants linked to a case of theft and violent conduct in Ilorin.

The arrests followed a report filed by one Olusegun Taiwo, a resident of the Sango area, who was attacked by the suspects while on her way to work.

According to Taiwo, the hoodlums forcefully took her bag, phones, and other valuables while she was on a motorcycle.

The incident occurred amidst a protest by commercial tricycle and motorcycle riders in Ilorin recently.

Speaking on the arrest, the Public Relations Officer of NSCDC Kwara State Command, ASC 1 Ayoola Michael Shola, said: “Upon receiving the report, operatives of the NSCDC Kwara State Command, arrested seven suspected miscreants involved in unlawful and violent conduct, as well as mischief, during a protest by commercial tricycle and motorcycle riders in Ilorin on the same day.”

The suspects are believed to be part of a group of hoodlums responsible for terrorizing the Sango area and causing unrest across Ilorin. They allegedly took advantage of the protest to engage in theft and disrupt public order.”

NSCDC Kwara State Commandant, Dr. Umar Mohammed, reassured residents that the Command remains dedicated to maintaining public peace and will continue to take strong action against those who threaten the safety of the state.

He also confirmed that the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.
