Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Saturday presented staff of office to the newly installed Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba Adesoye Adebowale Jimoh, urging him to foster peace and development in the community.

Oba Adesoye ascended the throne following the death of the previous monarch, Oba AbdulGaniyu Ajibola Olusokun II, who passed on May 20, 2023.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Ilorin, Governor AbdulRazaq, emphasised the importance of unity and collaboration for the progress of Erin-Ile and Kwara State.

“As I present the First Class Staff of Office to Your Royal Highness, I urge you to be magnanimous and work for peace and development of your community and Kwara State as a whole,” the governor said, addressing the gathering of traditional rulers, cabinet members, and dignitaries from Erin-Ile.

In his address, the newly installed Elerin thanked Governor AbdulRazaq and the Erin-Ile community for the trust placed in him, promising to work towards improving the quality of life for the people.

“Our objective is to support the government in fostering a better quality of life for the people of Erin-Ile and Kwara State. We will be Your Excellency’s partners in progress,” Oba Adesoye said.

The event saw the attendance of several prominent traditional rulers, including the Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi; the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Omar Sheu Muazu; and the Olusin of Isanlu Isin, Oba Solomon Atobatele Oloyede, among others.

Kwara State’s Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, Abubakar Abdullahi Bata, commended the Erin-Ile kingmakers for their maturity and commitment during the selection process, highlighting the administration’s respect for traditional institutions.

The inauguration marked the beginning of a new chapter for the ancient city of Erin-Ile, as Oba Adesoye takes on the mantle of leadership with a pledge to promote peace and development in the community.
