The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has hosted its sixth seminar on the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI), for Judicial Officers in Abuja.
The three-day event, themed “Nigeria’s Electricity Market in Transition: Law, Regulation and the Courts,” aimed to stimulate discourse on emerging legal issues in the sector.
NERC Chairman, Dr. Musiliu Oseni, highlighted on the key milestones in power sector reforms, which includes, the creation of the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) Ltd and the commencement of free prepaid meter distribution to unmetered customers.

He emphasised the need for judicial officers to familiarize themselves with federal and state laws regulating the electricity sector.
Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, commended the NERC-NJI collaboration, stating it strengthens judicial capacity and promotes professional excellence.
The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, equally urged judicial officers to collaborate with power sector stakeholders for shared success.
