Kwara Police intensify crime fighting efforts, make multiple arrests

The Kwara State Police Command has ramped up its efforts against crime, leading to a series of significant arrests and recoveries across the state.

During a press briefing at the police headquarters in Ilorin, Kwara State on Friday, Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, disclosed that three individuals, Ridwan Alabi, Taiye Olarewaju, and Adebayo Habibullahi, have been detained in connection with the gruesome murder of two young men at the Insomnia Night Club in Tanke.

The suspects have reportedly admitted to being members of the Eiye Secret Cult Confraternity.

The police also intervened to prevent an initiation ceremony by the ‘Aiye’ cult group in Agbo-Oba, arresting five individuals and seizing a Beretta pistol along with various criminal charms.

In a separate operation, the police dismantled a kidnapping syndicate, arresting four suspects and uncovering their key figures. Further actions led to the arrest of a suspect involved in transformer theft in Oja-Iya and additional arrests related to kidnapping and homicide in Manasara village.

Moreover, the police thwarted an armed robbery attempt, recovering a stolen motorcycle and apprehending the suspects involved.

The Kwara State Police Command has called on residents to continue reporting suspicious activities, emphasizing its commitment to upholding justice and maintaining order within the state.

Other significant arrests include: Four suspects namely; Babuga Usman, Yunusa Yakubu, Sani Usman, and Abdullahi Bello for conspiracy and kidnapping, and one Idris Hussain for criminal trespass, mischief, and theft.

Other arrest include five individuals, Umar Shehu, Musa Fulani, Ahmadu Majo, Bello Usman, and Mamud Afeez, for conspiracy, aiding/abetting, illegal possession of firearms, and kidnapping.

Also, four suspects, Mohammed Manman, Abubakar Mohammed, Aliyu Abubakar, and Abubakar Abdulkareem were arrested for conspiracy to commit kidnapping, kidnapping, aiding/abetting kidnapping, and culpable homicide.

While two individuals, Wasiu Ibrahim and Idowu Jamiufor were arrested for armed robbery.
