The people of Kwara State are grieving the loss of a seasoned civil servant, Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole, who passed away on Wednesday, March 5, at the age of 58.
Her death has left a significant void in the state’s civil service, where she was revered for her dedication, discipline, and impactful leadership.
Oluwole, who served as Kwara’s Head of Service from 2017 to 2024, was instrumental in shaping policies that improved the welfare of civil servants.
She was appointed by former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed and remained a pillar of integrity throughout her career.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in a condolence message, described her passing as a profound loss to the state.
“She was an exemplary public servant whose contributions will remain indelible. Her career was marked by hard work, brilliance, and an unwavering commitment to service,” he said through his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.
Colleagues who worked closely with Oluwole recalled her impact on the civil service.
A senior official said, “She was more than a leader; she was a mentor who always prioritised the welfare of workers. Her dedication to discipline and professionalism was unmatched.”
Before rising to the position of Head of Service, Oluwole served as the Permanent Secretary in charge of Service Welfare, where she championed policies that enhanced the working conditions of civil servants.
Her passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes from government officials and associates, all highlighting her lasting influence on public service in the state.
Governor AbdulRazaq extended his condolences to her husband, elderly father, and the entire civil service community, urging them to find solace in the impactful life she led.
