From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

In a bid to cushion the effects of economic hardship, Hon. Ahmed Adamu-Saba, the lawmaker representing Edu, Moro, and Patigi federal constituency in Kwara state, has provided food items and cash grants to 15,000 vulnerable residents as part of his Ramadan relief program.

The intervention, worth over N30 million, aims to ease the burden on struggling families during the holy month.

Speaking during the distribution, Adamu-Saba emphasised that the initiative was for all residents, irrespective of political or religious background. “Ramadan is a time for unity, generosity, and shared responsibility. This assistance is for everyone in need,” he said.

To expand the reach of the initiative, the lawmaker announced an additional N10 million allocation to support more families. He also linked the relief effort to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises social welfare and economic empowerment.

Beyond Ramadan, Adamu-Saba reaffirmed his commitment to supporting youths and women through vocational training. “The best way to tackle poverty is through empowerment. We want to equip people with the skills they need to become self-reliant,” he added.

A community elder, Alhaji Mohammed Kudu-Dumagi, commended the lawmaker for the timely intervention, urging beneficiaries to make good use of the support. “This is a lifeline for many families, and it should be used wisely,” he advised.

Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the relief, describing it as a crucial intervention during tough economic times.
