A knowledge-driven technology firm, ESANAD Consult Limited, has taken its campaign against fake news to the Kwara State Government, following a collaboration meeting with the Commissioner for Communication, Mrs Bolanle Olukoju, in Ilorin.
The ESANAD delegation, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ganiyu Opeyemi, briefed the commissioner on the organisation’s vision, operational structure and its growing role in promoting fact-checking, media literacy and credible information management across communities and public institutions.
Opeyemi explained that ESANAD operates through specialised units aimed at addressing misinformation and strengthening information integrity, noting that its consultancy arm focuses on research- and technology-driven solutions that support good governance.
“Our goal is to provide practical, technology-based tools that help government and society respond effectively to fake news and misinformation,” he said. “We believe that strategic collaboration with the state government will go a long way in building public trust and ensuring responsible information flow.”

He added that ESANAD Academy, another arm of the organisation, runs structured programmes in research, training and product development designed to equip journalists, institutions and citizens with fact-checking and media literacy skills.
In her response, Mrs Olukoju, commended ESANAD’s focus, describing its fact-checking initiatives as timely and aligned with the state government’s commitment to accurate and responsible public communication.
“Fake news spreads faster than verified information because people are quick to believe and share rumours,” the commissioner said. “While misinformation may not be totally eliminated, it can be corrected and significantly reduced through deliberate efforts, partnerships and transparency.”
She cited the construction of a perimeter fence around the Computer Village in Ilorin as an example, explaining that despite widespread rumours at the initial stage, the project eventually improved security and safety in the area.
Mrs Olukoju also disclosed that Kwara State has provisions for four Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) installations, which would require specialised experts to be flown in from Germany, stressing the importance of proper planning and credible information in managing such projects.
On funding and sponsorship, the commissioner noted that government support follows laid-down processes and must be backed by clear and detailed cost breakdowns. According to her, accurate and transparent information is critical in regulating public communication and public spending.
She further revealed that rather than constructing new accommodation for visiting medical experts, the state plans to partner with hotels to provide discounted lodging—an initiative aimed at promoting medical tourism and reducing the need for residents to seek advanced medical services outside the state.
Meanwhile, ESANAD Consult Limited has announced a new appointment as part of its organisational growth. The firm has appointed Ms Esther Anwo, as its Administrative Secretary, effective Monday, February 2, 2026.
Ms Anwo, a graduate of Mass Communication from Ojaja University, is expected to strengthen the company’s administrative and communication processes as it expands engagement with government and other stakeholders.
