She said the clean record was a reflection of professionalism, discipline and integrity demonstrated by personnel in the discharge of their duties.

According to her, “Since I assumed office, my headquarters has not received a single adverse report against the Kwara Area Command.”

She urged officers to sustain the standard and remain responsible both on and off duty, warning them against involvement in illicit drugs, sharp practices and other activities capable of tarnishing the image of the Service.

Umoh, while delivering the goodwill message of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, also encouraged personnel to maintain unity and work together as members of one family towards achieving the objectives of the Service.

She assured the officers of the continued support of the Zonal and Service Headquarters, while urging them to remain committed to the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service.

Earlier, the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Najeem Ogundeyi, highlighted the command’s operational achievements, milestones and administrative successes recorded under his leadership.

The oversight visit also provided an opportunity for the zonal coordinator to engage directly with major trade stakeholders, including representatives of freight forwarding associations, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), and major excise factories such as ITC and SANICA.

During the interactive session, Umoh commended the cordial relationship between the command and the trading community. She also responded to concerns raised by stakeholders on cargo clearance procedures, examination timelines and the competitiveness of regional trade.

The stakeholders welcomed the explanations and clarifications provided by the ACG, describing the engagement as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the Service and the business community.

The visit ended with an inspection of the command’s administrative offices, warehouse and residential barracks, where Umoh expressed satisfaction with the level of orderliness, environmental cleanliness and discipline observed.

The Public Relations Officer of the Kwara Area Command, Deputy Superintendent of Customs Suleiman Sani Mohammed, signed the statement on behalf of the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Najeem Akanmu Ogundeyi, on August 12, 2026.
