In the spirit of Christmas and as part of its people-centred security and welfare interventions, the Kogi State Security Trust Fund (KSSTF), has presented Christmas welfare packages to inmates in correctional facilities across the state.

It is designed as a gesture of compassion, inclusion, and social responsibility during the festive period.

The initiative is aimed at identifying with inmates many of whom are unable to celebrate the season with their families, and to reassure them that they are not forgotten members of society.

The welfare packages comprises essential food items to help improve the well-being of inmates during the Yuletide.

Speaking during the presentation, the Executive Chairman of KSSTF, AVM Omeiza Umar (rtd), represented by the Director Finance and Accounts Mallam Idris Ibrahim, described Christmas as a season of love, sacrifice, and hope, stressing that these values must extend to all segments of society, including those in correctional custody.

According to him, “Christmas reminds us of the importance of compassion and humanity. As a Fund committed to security and social stability, we believe that caring for inmates and identifying with them during this festive period contributes to their morale, rehabilitation, and eventual reintegration into society ”

The Executive Chairman, further noted that security was not limited to the provision of operational equipment alone but also includes human focused interventions that promote peace, reform, and social harmony.

He reaffirmed KSSTF’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance the welfare of both security personnel and vulnerable groups within the justice system.

The Comptroller Nigerian Correctional Service Kogi State command, Hajiya Adiza, expressed appreciation to KSSTF for the timely intervention, describing it as a morale-boosting gesture that reflects genuine concern for the welfare of inmates.

They noted that such support complements ongoing rehabilitation and reform programmes within the correctional facilities.

This Christmas outreach forms part of KSSTF’s broader mandate to support security architecture, promote social responsibility, and strengthen community trust in Kogi State.
